Town Walk Verbier

Despite the poopy weather and my cousins’ hair of the dog day, stroll number two of the day follows lunch so that I can tour wintertime Verbier to see how it compares to its summertime corollary, and in the process, we maneuver the little sedan up slippery steeps and tight corners demanding twenty-point turns and damn, that is impressive.

Back on two feet, we park at La Barmettaz, the digs my grandfather swapped with Le Calesberg, a chalet close to the main square named after his mother, the place my mother and her siblings shacked up in on ski holidays here, and now, we march and march and march down town, around town, to the side of town, past the oldest ski shop in town and the bar voted the best après-ski in the world.

And, lo and behold, we end up at Le Pub with enough time to spare for a vin chaud, the perfect antidote to low BAC.
