Mont des Arts

And, now for the climax of the tour, my favorite view of Brussels, ever–le Mont des Arts.

When I interned in Brussels for Christie’s, I used to walk to this vantage to eat eat my baguette, staring out at the statue of Leopold, to the Town Hall tower, all the way to Koekelberg Basilica.

Today, Philippe and I chow down on frites, for him, and a gauffre, for me, and wow, I still think this view rocks. Framed by Alexander Calder’s mobile and flanked by the Art Nouveau–a style founded in part in Brussels–Maison de la Musique, it’s absolutely stunning.

Really, we couldn’t have asked for a better day to stroll the sights.
