Christmas Time

It’s Christmas time in the city–finally!–and I am in serious love with this holiday cheer as Olivier and I walk the crowded Oxford Street to Picadilly Circus to Regent Street to Leicester Square to Covent Gardens, all with a Starbucks beverage, of course.

All of this flair is decidedly British with its marmite tub of lights, and as I told my brother this evening when we called him for his birthday and hear about his weekend with the ‘rents, the Brits may find this display of holidayness grotesque, but these lights barely hold a candle to the torch that is the American holiday season, which, as gaudy and over the top as it it, I may, secretly kind of like it.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, friends, because Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very jolly nose.

And, judging by the performers at Covent Gardens doing their ElfYourself dance to Michael Jackson with Queen and Obama masks, they’re having a jolly good time, too.
